Due to changes in privacy laws during the past few years, we offer you these guidelines to ensure that anyone desiring the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick or wanting Communion brought to them will know how to arrange for this ministry.

The Anointing of the Sick (formerly known as extreme unction or the “last rites”) is administered only by an ordained minister. If you are facing surgery or are ill, you may ask to receive this Sacrament at church, at home, or in the hospital. Contact the church office as soon as possible. This Sacrament can bring peace and consolation. In cases of emergency, Cortland Hospital personnel will call a priest for you. 

Communion to the Sick and Shut-ins:  Extraordinary  Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick bring Communion on a regular basis to area nursing homes and residential care facilities and to shut-ins at home. Dorothy Stevens visits Cortland Hospital every week. The only way we know who needs this service is if we are advised of this need when it occurs, or if you register at the hospital specifically as a parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church. Please call the office or have a family member call when you are in need of these services or wish to have a family member put on our prayer list with their approval(607-749-2542).
