Dear Parishioners, Blessings to all on this day of resurrection! Jesus is alive and lives in each of us. The Lord is truly risen! The first Christians spoke and preached about the risen Lord long before they wrote about it. They proclaimed two basic truths; that God had raised Jesus from the dead, and that the risen Jesus appeared to a number of witnesses (1Cor.15:3-5). The gospels were written some forty to seventy years after the death and resurrection of Jesus. None of the gospels tell us about the actual resurrection. They all have a narrative about what happened after Jesus rose from the dead. There were no eyewitnesses to the resurrection. The gospels go from the burial of Jesus on Good Friday to the finding of the empty tomb early Sunday morning. After the resurrection, Jesus appeared to his disciples on several occasions. These appearances strengthened them in their belief in the risen Lord. It also assured them (and us) that we too will rise to a new life after death. The Easter season lasts for fifty days, until Pentecost. May the joy and blessings of this holy season be with you and your loved ones.
My heartfelt thanks to all who helped to make our Holy Week so beautiful: all who decorated the sanctuary, musicians, choir, servers, ushers, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, and our parishioners for your presence and support of our parish.
