Last weekend I had the privilege of marching in the "Black Lives Matter" parade through downtown Homer. It was very exciting to see 300 people from our little town supporting police reform and equal justice for all. I am including my homily from last Sunday in this week's email.
ST. MARGARET'S TO REOPEN FOR SUNDAY MASS! Bishop Lucia has given permission for our churches to open for public Masses. St. Margaret's will open for Mass Sunday, June 28th at 10:30 a.m. St. Lawrence in DeRuyter will open for Sunday Mass on June 28th at 8:30 a.m. According to state law, we can have 25% of the capacity of the church for Mass. That means that we can safely accommodate 80 people in the church and the upper loft. Families and individuals will be spaced six feet apart. All parishioners must wear face masks and bring your own sanitizer (we will provide both if you forget!).
I will give instructions about the procedure for receiving Holy Communion at the beginning of Mass. Parishioners are not to congregate outside after the liturgy. Dismissal at the end of Mass will be row by row. YOU MUST REGISTER AHEAD OF TIME EACH WEEK TO BE AT THE MASS. Please call our church office 607-749 -2542, or you can email us at [email protected]. I am so glad that we will finally be able to be together once again in our churches. You have been greatly missed! Daily Mass will return in mid-July. Our Mass on Sunday will continue to be live-streamed on our Facebook page for those who cannot attend. Saturday evening Mass at 4:00 p.m. will begin JULY 11th.
Congratulations to all of our graduates! May God be with you in all of your future endeavors.
