During our recent "nomination for ministry" project, several parishioners volunteered for ministry at St. Margaret's. We have 2 new people for funeral luncheons, one person for Eucharistic ministry to the sick, one parishioner for altar server at funerals, two new lectors, two new altar servers, and one nomination for pastoral council. Thank you to all who filled out nomination forms!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! Father's Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. In Catholic Europe, it has been celebrated on March 19 (St. Joseph's Day) since the Middle Ages. This celebration was brought by the Spanish and Portuguese to Latin America, where March 19 is often still used for it, though many countries in Europe and the Americas have adopted the U.S. date, which is the third Sunday of June (falling on June 16 in 2019). It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March, April, and June. It complements similar celebrations honoring family members, such as Mother's Day.
HOPE APPEAL 2019 — This annual appeal helps to fund many diocesan programs and ministries, helping thousands of people in ourseven county diocese. Our parish goal this year is $26,032. I am asking all of our parishioners, who are able, to give generously to this annual appeal. You can bring your offering to church and deposit it in the collection, or mail it in with the envelope provided. Many thanks for your generosity.
Next weekend I will be away and Fr. Joe Phillips will be with us for the weekend Masses. I am sure you will give him our usual St. Margaret's warm welcome!
