This weekend we celebrate the second of two "doctrinal feasts," The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus. As Catholic Christians, we believe that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. Since the time of the Last Supper, bread and wine have been consecrated at Mass and given to the faithful as food for our journey. Jesus said, "Take and eat...take and drink." We do this in memory of him.
Each week several parishioners bring the Eucharist home with them to their loved ones who may be home-bound and unable to attend the weekend Mass. This connects them with the celebration of the liturgy and to our parish. Catholics reserve the consecrated Eucharist in a "tabernacle" (the word means dwelling place), so that we may bring the Eucharist to the sick and home-bound during the week. As the song says, " Come to the feast of heaven and earth...come to the table of plenty!"
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY...to all of our dads, grandfathers, godfathers, and foster fathers. May this day bring you happiness and peace with your families. God bless.
HOPE APPEAL....please remember to make your annual pledge or donation to the Hope Appeal. I ask that you prayerfully consider a generous donation to help the needy and fund important programs in our diocese.
