We have received an email from our chancellor, Danielle Cummings, regarding a hurricane relief collection. NEXT WEEKEND we will take up a second offering to be sent to Catholic Charities, USA and Catholic Relief Services to help the victims of Hurricane Dorian. Checks can be made out to "HURRICANE DORIAN RELIEF" or Catholic Relief Services. Any cash that is placed in the second collection basket will be forwarded to these agencies to help in the relief effort. Many thanks for your generosity.
Men's spirituality group will meet next Saturday in the Conference room. This group meets monthly and is open to any men of the parish. We start with coffee and then we have our discussion and video presentation. Our women's spirituality group will also meet in the church hall next Saturday. The meeting time for both is 10 - 11:30 a.m.
Our Finance Council met last month to review the past fiscal year of our parish. At that meeting the members voted to support the following local charities: Loaves and Fishes - $1,000; Helping Hands Caring Heart - $1,000; YWCA "Bridges For Kids" - $500; Cortland/Chenango Rural Services - $500 and Sr. Kathleen's Hospitality Center at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Cincinnatus - $1,000. Thank you to our generous parishioners for your support of your parish and these vital charities.
Next Sunday, Fr. John Rose, a retired priest from our diocese, will be here to celebrate the 10:30 a.m. Mass. I will be at St. John Fisher College [my alma mater], to concelebrate the 10 a.m. Mass. The new Campus Ministry Center will be dedicated to our former chaplain, Fr. Joseph Trovato. Fr. Trovato is 89 years old now, but he was our chaplain during my years at Fisher [1969-1973], and many years after that. I am so glad that I am able to celebrate the Mass with him and my classmates from St. John Fisher.
DON'T FORGET to email your reservation for our annual Volunteer Appreciation gathering on Saturday night, September 21st after the 4 p.m. Mass. This party is always a good time!
