Our local police chief Bob Pittman, will be with us at St. Margaret's for a workshop on "Civilian Response to Active Shooter Incident" on SATURDAY, SEPT. 29th at 10:00 a.m. The police officers have given this seminar at various other churches and organizations. The first part of the workshop will be held in the church and the second part will be in our church hall. This event is open to all parishioners and will help us to be more aware of the exits and safe areas in the event of an incident. It is sad that we have to be talking about something like this right now, but for our own safety, I encourage you to attend.
St. Margaret's will host the next Pastoral Care Area meeting on Tuesday night, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. The leaders from our area Catholic churches will discuss how we can support and cooperate with one another.
Last week our Finance Council met to review the previous fiscal year and to approve the budget for our new fiscal year. At the meeting we also voted to donate $7,500 from our parish to various charities. The following charities have received $1,500 each from St. Margaret's church: Loaves and Fishes, Helping Hands-Caring Heart, Cortland-Chenango Rural Services, Assumption Church food pantry (Syracuse), and the YWCA of Cortland Bridges For Kids program. Thank you for your weekly contributions to our parish.
We are looking for catechists for our Sunday Children's Liturgy of the Word. Training will be provided!
