It was great to see so many of you at the Volunteer Appreciation / New Parishioner Gathering. I hope you all had a great time and again, “Thank You” for your service to the church through your ministries. St. Margaret’s is a warm and welcoming Parish because of your dedication.
I want to call your attention to a wonderful speaker who will be giving a presentation here at St. Margaret's. Fr. John Rose will be speaking on the topic: “Deepening Our Faith: Invitations from Jesus to recognize our belovedness.” The presentation will be Saturday, October 5th, after the 4:00 p.m. Mass in our church hall. A light dinner will be served after the Mass around 5:15 p.m. Father John Rose is a retired priest of our diocese. He has served in parishes in Syracuse, Baldwinsville, and Utica. He recently retired as pastor of St. Vincent DePaul Church in Syracuse and as Director of Christ the King Retreat House. Reservations will be required so we can plan on food. Please call our parish office to reserve your seat 607-749-2542 or email: [email protected]. All are welcome to attend. Deadline for dinner reservations is Tuesday, October 1st. There will be no charge for this event.
SAVE THE DATE: Wednesday, October 23rd for our annual HARVEST DINNER put on by our good friends at Central City Grill. Advance Sale Tickets available until Sunday, October 13 after weekend Masses.
The annual Hope Appeal will be coming to a close in November. If you have not sent in your pledge or donation, please do so this month. Many thanks.
Next weekend I will be celebrating the wedding of my niece Lauren Alciati at Lake Placid. Lauren and her fiancée Devon Rothman have been dating since their first year in college. Both graduated from the University of Vermont five years ago. It will be a great family reunion for us! Please remember Lauren and Devon in your prayers. Fr. John Rose will be celebrating the Masses at St. Margaret's and St. Lawrence in DeRuyter.
Are you interested in becoming a Catholic? Each year our parish welcomes new members into our faith at the Easter Vigil Mass. The process for becoming a Catholic takes several months of discussion, prayer, and discernment. If you or someone you know might be interested in becoming a Catholic, please call me at the church office. We are presently forming a group of adults who are interested in our faith.
