Our bishop, Most Rev. Robert Cunningham, has asked every parish in our diocese to celebrate a Mass on the weekend of Sept. 15-16, with the intention of the Church asking forgiveness and for the healing of victims of abuse. Our church has been deeply wounded by so many allegations of sexual abuse of children by clergy.  We are greatly in need of healing.  Let us continue to fervently pray for all victims of clergy sexual abuse.
 

In last weekend's bulletin, I mistakenly said that the Volunteer Appreciation Gathering will be on Sept. 15th.  The gathering will be held on SATURDAY, SEPT. 22 AFTER THE 4PM MASS.  Many of our volunteers and committee members have received an invitation via e-mail or U.S. mail  If we did not contact you, please know that you are invited!  We also welcome to this gathering any of our parishioners who recently joined our parish and those parishioners from St. Patrick's in Truxton who now worship with us here at St. Margaret's. This is always a very enjoyable evening!  Please email our office or respond to the E-vite to let us know if you are coming.
 

On Sat. Sept. 15th at 10 a.m., our men's spirituality group will resume meeting.   For those of you who have never been to our group, we start off with coffee and socializing, have a prayer time, then I usually show a video, and we have a lively discussion!  You are welcome to sit and listen or jump into the discussion!  We meet once-a-month.  The men who have participated in the past really enjoyed these gatherings. Lunch will be included in our September meeting.  (Please let me know if you are coming so I can plan on food and beverages). 
 

Civilian Response to Active Shooter Incident—Do you know where all the exits are for St. Margaret's during Mass times? Do you know where the rooms off the Sacristy are where you can hide and lock yourself in? The same questions can be asked if you are attending a Church function in the Parish Hall.  The Homer Police Department will be here Saturday, September 29th from 10 am to noon to answer these questions and more concerning your response to an Active Shooter Incident that could happen while at Mass or at a Parish Function in the Parish Hall.
