I want to welcome our new maintenance person, Mr. DaQuon Franklin, who began working here last week. Daquon, his wife, Crystal and their five children live right next door to our church! He is originally from Yonkers, N.Y. where his father and his uncle were pastors of a local Protestant church. DaQuon is very thankful to receive this job, especially since it is so convenient to where he lives. If you see him around the church, please welcome him.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY ! Father's Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. In Catholic Europe, it has been celebrated on March 19 (St. Joseph's Day) since the Middle Ages. This celebration was brought by the Spanish and Portuguese to Latin America, where March 19 is often still used for it, though many countries in Europe and the Americas have adopted the U.S. date, which is the third Sunday of June (falling on June 17 in 2018). It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March, April, and June. It complements similar celebrations honoring family members, such as Mother's Day.
Hope Appeal... Don't forget to send in your donation that will help thousands in our Diocese. You can bring your offering to church and deposit it in the collection, or mail it in with the envelope provided. Many thanks for your generosity.
