To all our mothers celebrating with us today, I wish you a wonderful Mothers’ Day. Some of my priest friends have been discussing what our weekend liturgies will look like when we are able to reopen our churches. Some pastors wonder if people will return to church after being accustomed to watching Mass on TV. I have no doubt about our parishioners returning to Mass. We experience so much here at St. Margaret's and St. Lawrence. Our faith communities are filled with lively liturgies and deep devotion to our parishes.
This has been a long wait, and many of us are getting frustrated, wondering when we can celebrate together. When we do reopen, we will probably have to continue to wear face masks and sit six feet apart. We could also stream Mass on the big screen TV in our church hall at St. Margaret's. Holy Communion would be distributed by Eucharistic Ministers wearing latex gloves. Obviously, we would not be able to distribute the chalice to the faithful at this time. Bulletins would be available online. At this time, weddings and baptism can still be scheduled, but only with a limited number of people present. Of course, some have postponed ceremonies until our church is reopened. The so called "new normal" will be different from what we are used to. We want to ensure the safety of our parishioners, so we all have to patiently wait until the day we can gather around the Table of the Lord.
A reminder that our Mass is live streamed each Sunday, 10:30 a.m. Please make time with your family to pray the Mass with us. St. Margaret's church is open on Sundays for private prayer from 8 a.m. until 12 noon.
Thank you for sending in your weekly contributions to our office. We make deposits to our church account each week. Your support is very much appreciated.
